CONSIDER Project successfully launched with the Kick of Meeting

On the 16th of October in 2021, the kick-off meeting for the CONSIDER project titled “Sustainable Management of Industrial Heritage Sites as a Resource for Urban Development” funded by the EU Horizon 2020 MSCA RISE Programme took place in the form of a hybrid event in Zollverein & Online. More than 20 participants from different academic and sectoral institutions attended the meeting. 

In Zollverein, the Kick-off meeting was hosted and organized by the Zollverein Foundation at the UNESCO World Heritage site Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex, Essen. The kick-off meeting was preceded by the international congress "Industrial World Heritage: Opportunity and Responsibility" (October 13-15, 2021), where representatives of three beneficiaries Prof. Dr. Mike Turner, Prof. Dr. Stefan Berger, Prof. Dr. Yonca Erkan presented as keynote speakers at this conference. 

Parallel to the CONSIDER kick-off meeting, a small workshop aimed at bringing forward issues related to Work package 1 ‘Towards Digital Tool’ was held to exchange ideas on key concepts concerning industrial heritage sites. The workshop started with the presentation of the case study of ‘Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex’ by the Zollverein Foundation. On the basis of the presented case study, the CONSIDER project partners from the United Kingdom, Germany, Austria, Turkey, and Israel exchanged their ideas among different topics including civic engagement, planning & governance mechanisms related to industrial heritage.
