New publication announcement: Industrial World Heritage. Opportunity and Responsibility

We are glad to announce that the representatives of three CONSIDER beneficiaries Prof. Michael Turner (BEZ), Prof. Dr. Stefan Berger (RUB) and Prof. Dr. Yonca Erkan (KHAS) have contributed to a new publication 'Industrial World Heritage. Opportunity and Responsibility' published by the German Commission for UNESCO. The following contributions have been made:

  • 'Keynote Address: Strategies for the Conservation of Historical Urban and Industrial Cultural Landscapes' by Prof. Michael Turner (BEZ),
  • 'History and the Culture of Memory: The Historical Significance of Industrial Heritage' by Prof. Dr. Stefan Berger,
  • 'Keynote Address: Network[ing] and Globalization–Looking into the future of Industrial Heritage' by Prof. Dr. Yonca Erkan.

The publication involves the lectures and discussions during the international conference “Industrial World Heritage. Opportunity and Responsibility”, organized by the Zollverein Foundation (ZOLL) and the German UNESCO Commission on the 14th and 15th of October 2021. The publication elucidates various topics about industrial world heritage sites such as sustainable presentation and reuse, resilience and sustainability, international networking, digitization and homeland and destination.
